L’Oreal Paris Nude Magique BB Cream

With BB creams seeming to take over the beauty counters, it was time to test one out!

We chose to test L’Oreal’s Nude Magique, which caught our eye while looking for a third product on one of Boots’ 3 for 2 offers!

It was bought on a whim but has fast become one of editor Lisa’s favourite make-up products…

The best bit is ‘Smart Pigment Capsules’ – the cream is colourless when you apply it, even appearing white on the skin at first, but it quickly adjusts to match your skin tone.

It gives good coverage, similar to that of a medium coverage foundation, and the texture feels much like a primer on application. It applies evenly and a little at a time is best – apply too much and you will look like you’ve piled on the make-up, but go steady and gives skin a balanced, healthy and almost-flawless look.

The cream boasts 24 hour hydration – that part we’re not so sure about, but after a night out and a ‘forgot to remove makeup’  sleep later skin was still looking good!

SPF12 is helpful, but probably doesn’t beat your day cream.

Overall, we’re big fans and it’s converted us heavy users of foundation for everyday-wear from a primer and foundation as it gives similar results without the need to wait for a primer and then your foundation to set.

If you’re a tinted moisturiser user more than foundation this could be a good step-up for special occasions.

Update – 11 April 2023: Nude Magique BB Cream is no longer available from L’Oreal Paris, however some stores still have some stock.

This product has been replaced by C’est Magic BB Cream, which is a different formula available in 4 shades: Light, Medium, Medium Dark, and Dark. It is now an SPF20.  L’Oreal Paris also offers a BB Cream in its Age Perfect range.
