Biore Pore Perfect Wipes
Pre-moistened wipes are becoming so popular, but we often need convincing that they’ll do just as good a job as our cleansers and facial washes.
From these wipes we were looking for great cleansing and gentle exfoliation… initially we thought the wipes would be too astringent as it took a couple of days for skin to balance when using them, skin was oily initially, but after 2-3 days skin really started to glow and look fresh and healthy.
After a week there was a big difference, spots and blemishes were disappearing, blackheads hugely reduced and skin looked clearer and more radiant.
After each use skin is left refreshed and clean, no need for toner, but do ensure you follow with a moisturiser to avoid dryness.
Avoid the eyes with these – they will remove other make-up fantastically well, but unfortunately they are too harsh around the eyes.
The wipes themselves are strong enough and moist enough to only need one per application.
Overall an excellent choice for teenagers and those who suffer with clogged pores and dull or oily skin.
Great price too – £3.99 for a pack of 25.

Nivea Visage Extra Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover
It seems to be so hard to find a good eye make-up remover – we kept seeing Nivea’s Extra Gentle remover in the supermarkets, so decided to give it a try.
As a budget remover we feel this is not too bad, but we did have a couple of niggles – despite being ‘extra gentle’ and suitable for contact lens wearers, it did sting the eyes a little which made it uncomfortable to use. It also wasn’t particularly refreshing, which (rightly or wrongly) we feel an eye make-up remover should do.
As far as removing make-up goes, it is very good, though some waterproof mascaras needed more than two or three applications to remove it. However Nivea do have a separate waterproof eye make-up remover in the Visage range.
Overall, a good budget remover, just a little disappointing.

I have tried this product over the last couple of days, used first in the morning after cleansing. I was pleased to say that this was not a greasy product so it didn’t interfere with my makeup routine and sat under my foundation nicely. It was slightly tingly when applying but nothing that made me feel uncomfortable. My eyes felt much fresher after applying and seemed to look less baggy.
After applying at night time I didn’t see much improvement at morning time but then im allays a bit puffy in the morning.
Definitely worth a go though to use in the morning as it did make me feel as it had given me a bit of a perk up!

A lovely book arrived today – The Holistic Beauty Book.
Books are so difficult to review, especially beauty books, but this one is a hit with us already. What we really like about it is that you can pick it up, flick through and start anywhere – it’s easy to dip into, yet just as easy to read from the start.
There’s no beating around the bush – author Star Khechara gets straight to the point with everything she has to say and writes clearly and simply. After a couple of quick, easy-to-read chapters on the holistic lifestyle you’re practically converted!
But the best part is the recipe section… beauty recipes that is! You can be making your own skincare, body products and hair care in no time… even tinted lip glosses. There are over 100 recipes to indulge in!
The recipes are well written and simple instructions make them easy to follow – there is even a chapter on ingredients and techniques, plus a further section on where to purchase ingredients.
A lovely gift for anyone who loves their skincare and pampering treats, especially those who prefer organic and natural products.
The Holistic Beauty Book is priced £12.95 and is published on 20 November 2008. It will be available from www.greenbooks.co.uk and Amazon.

While we’re used to cleansing creams, lotions and gels, a cleansing oil was something new to us… there are many available, but we’d never taken the plunge and given one a try.
The Nude skincare range is smart and sleek – the packaging looks great in any bathroom cabinet – so would the product inside do the job?
We were pleasantly surprised, not only by the scent of the product which is rich and indulgent, but also by the results…
Intended for normal to dry skins, we also tested on combination skin – all our testers loved this – most reported improved skintone and clarity of skin (blemishes disappearing) within 3-4 days and all found improvement within a week. Improvements also included a reduction in fine fines and crepiness.
If an oil scares you a bit, don’t worry – although you massage the product straight into the skin, adding a little water transforms it to a milk which then rinses off without any oil being left on the skin.
Not all our testers were keen on the scent, our man felt it was a bit girly for him, though loved the results, and those who are not keen on exotic, sensual scents didn’t enjoy the scent as much as the others. Those who love sensual frangrances – such as the scent of the Elemis Exotic Collection – will love this and will find it great for a facial as well as everyday use.
